Shurat HaDin’s 4th Annual Law and War Conference
Shurat HaDin’s 4th Annual Law and War Conference brings together leading military leaders, statesmen, attorneys, scholars, and area experts to address the law of war and its application to the modern battlefield.
The conference focuses on the challenges that Western democratic societies face in an age of asymmetrical warfare, terrorism, and persistent conflict. Servicemembers from democratic countries contend with the use of human shields, knife attacks by civilians, border breaches, child combatants, burning kites, car-rammings, and terror tunnels, while simultaneously facing high levels of scrutiny, unknown to their enemies, in this age of media saturation. The Law and War conference will promote a new approach to keep the laws of war relevant to the modern battlefield. The goal is to bring together the best minds and policymakers in military, law, government and the academy to find real and innovative solutions to protect our Servicemembers and civilians.
Some of the topics on the conference agenda include the International Criminal Court, the situation in Gaza and in the Palestinian Authority, North Korea and its activities in the Middle East, the use of Facebook and other social media by terror groups.
